More Than 800 Pets Need a Home

ALBUQUERQUE — The Animal Welfare Department (AWD) is in the ninth-inning and bases are loaded at the shelter. Over 800 pets need a home-run play.

AWD is asking the fans from around New Mexico to come together to recruit (adopt) from AWD’s pet team. Time to play ball and step up to the plate by adopting a pet.

AWD is hosting an adoption event Saturday, August 27 and Sunday, August 28, at the Eastside and Westside shelters, and the Everyday Adoption Center located in the Eubank PetSmart. Fans will be able to meet pets and talk to an adoption counselor to get pointers in finding the perfect player (pet) to be part of your team.

The adoption fee is waived for all pets. Each adoption will include spay or neuter, a microchip, required vaccinations, and one free initial vet visit. For dogs, you will receive one free dog training class.

The only thing left to do is shout, “Batter up!”
