New Mexico Sandoval County issued the following announcement on Oct. 23.
Early last month the New Mexico Department of Finance and the Governor’s Office announced the released $965k in Small Business Continuity Grant funds to Sandoval County. These emergency relief funds are available as part of the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act federal stimulus package.
Restaurants, bars, short-term lodging, retail, and other similar businesses impacted by the local or state stay-at-home orders are Eligible to apply. Sandoval County residents who engage in 1099 (consultants/contract employment) are also Eligible. Sandoval County is able to determine eligibility and tasked with first matching these funds to eligible small business owners located within the unincorporated areas of Sandoval County.
These grants are up to $10,000 to qualifying small businesses and non-profits to cover expenses incurred from March 2020 thru December 2020. Cost that can include bills to vendors’ bills, rent cost, and cost of personal protective equipment incurred or cost of related to the required closures. These grants are small business directed – meaning for those businesses that receive no more than $3 million in taxable receipts per year.
The application process is now open and will close its first round of funding on October 31, 2020, and continue on a rolling basis until funds are exhausted thru December 31, 2020. We ask that if you are within the local municipalities of the Town of Bernalillo, Village of Corrales, Village of Cuba, or the City of Rio Rancho you first apply through your local government. These communities have also received these same funds and working to ensure local allocations are fully utilized. Sandoval County will work with each local municipality thereafter and on larger qualified applications to insure all eligible applications are approved until we can all ensure these funds are allocated and reach the business owners in need.
