Sandoval County honors Martin Luther King Jr. Day with a proclamation

During the Sandoval County Commission meeting on January 29, 2025, Commissioner Joshua A. Jones sponsored a proclamation to declare January 20 as Martin Luther King Jr. Day. The proclamation was signed by the Sandoval County Board of County Commissioners.

Commissioner Jones acknowledged the Rio Rancho NAACP chapter for their commitment to civil rights and social justice in the community. He introduced Dr. Johnny McChriston, President, and Amina N. Everett, MBA, Treasurer, to receive the proclamation. "Their leadership, dedication, and advocacy have made a lasting impact in our community," said Jones.

The meeting featured Chair Michael Meek from District 3 and Rio Rancho NAACP Branch 6108 President Dr. Johnny McChriston at the center. Attendees included Vice Chair Jordan Juarez from District 4, Commissioner Jon Herr from District 2, Commissioner Katherine A. Bruch from District 1, Rio Rancho NAACP Branch 6108 Treasurer Amina N. Everett, MBA, and Commissioner Joshua Jones from District 5.
