Sandoval County has been awarded the FY2022 Large County Audit and Accountability Award by New Mexico Counties and the State Auditor’s Office. The award highlights the county's exemplary audit performance, timely submission, and sustained excellence in achieving the highest audit opinions. This marks Sandoval County's third consecutive year receiving such recognition.
The award was accepted by Sandoval County Commissioner Katherine A. Bruch from District 1, alongside several county representatives including Wayne Johnson, County Manager; Michael Eshleman, County Attorney; Treasurer Jennifer A. Taylor; Clerk Ann Brady-Romero; Vice Chair Michael Meek from District 3; Jayme Espinoza, Director of Community Services; and New Mexico State Auditor Joseph Maestas.
Wayne Johnson expressed pride in the achievement: “This recognition from the state for the third consecutive year demonstrates the continuous achievement of the County to perform its fiscal responsibilities at the highest level for the benefit of our residents. As the fastest-growing county in New Mexico, our assets and operations change constantly, and through our expertise and experience, these changes are managed successfully. We are proud of this accomplishment as we serve the people of Sandoval County.”
The awards were presented by State Auditor Joseph Maestas during a session at the 2024 New Mexico Counties Legislative Conference in Bernalillo. In total, ten counties received this acknowledgment from New Mexico Counties and the State Auditor’s Office.
