Elise MacGillivray, the Emergency Management Grants and Planning Coordinator for Sandoval County, has been honored as the 2023 Support Staff Member of the Year by the New Mexico Association of Emergency Management Professionals (NMAEMP). The award was given on November 15, 2023, during the NMAEMP Annual Conference held in Ruidoso, NM.
The NMAEMP states that this recognition is meant to "recognize individuals who have demonstrated exceptional dedication and accomplishments as support staff in the field of Emergency Management."
Eric Masterson, Chief of Sandoval County Fire and Rescue, praised MacGillivray's contributions since she joined Sandoval County in January 2023. He remarked, “Elise MacGillivray joined Sandoval County in January 2023 and from her first day brought competency and commitment to her position. These are attributes that are most needed in her work, as our Emergency Management Office plays a critical and broad role in public safety. It disseminates information to the public and provides training for various emergency-response agencies, and it works to help communities reduce vulnerability to hazards and if applicable, cope with disasters. Elise has experienced all of those situations in her short tenure here and she met the challenges each time. We join the NMAEMP in recognizing and honoring Elise for her contributions to her work, and we look forward to her continued success at the County.”
MacGillivray is involved with FEMA's Basic Academy for the Emergency Management Institute and holds a Professional Development Series certification through FEMA. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice with a concentration in Homeland Security and Emergency Management from Colorado Technical University.
