February 14, 2023 post.
We have been fostering Shaggy, a Border Collie mix for over a week now. He was an intake from the dump in Cuba, NM and was basically scared of his own shadow when we first met. Over the last week he has warmed up to the idea of coming into the house and being part of the family. He loves the company of other dogs, but is starting to accept and enjoy attention and affection from humans, too! Shaggy shows no signs of aggression towards dogs of any size, he is great with children, and completely non-reactive to cats. He does not potty in the house and doesn’t look to destroy when not entertained. He is a little terrified of his crate, but sleeps quietly through the night by our bed and can be trusted in the house without constant supervision. He loves to be outside and would probably love to have an active, outdoor-loving owner as well, but he is also completely content just hanging out with his dog friends either inside or outside. He's not much of a barker, but does enjoy howling with friends. He takes treats gently and is learning simple commands. Shaggy has beautiful brindle markings and we love his two white feet and white chest. He's always got one ear up and one ear down, which seems to compliment his personality. He’s a sweetie who will easily bond with other dogs in the house and complete a family.
