McDonald’s Thursday at 10 a.m. opened to a line-up of cars and a steady flow of inside customers.
Their greeter was owner Clemy Garza.
“We had somebody waiting in line at 8 this morning for our 10 o’clock opening to be the first, and other lobby individuals who wanted to be the first. They came very early,” she said.
The previous evening, the restaurant held a limited opening. The restaurant was filled.
First in line for indoor service were Alfredo and David Rios, who live in Northern Meadows.
Alfredo and David Rios chow down at the new McDonald’s. They were the first RR residents served indoor Thursday.
“We’ve been keeping an eye on the construction as its been developing since it’s on our way home every day, and … so we definitely wanted to be one of the first few to place that order,” Alfredo Rios said.
They ordered a 10-piece nugget meal and a quarter-pounder with cheese.
“There’s not really a lot of options when it comes to restaurants and we saw McDonald’s starting to break ground we got really excited,” Alfredo Rios said. “There’s going to be more options as we commute from Albuquerque to Rio Rancho.”
Alfredo Rios said he believes the restaurant will become a staple in the community and that he hopes the opening attracts other business to the area.
“Hopefully, we will see others break ground on restaurants and grocery stores,” he said.
