Rio Rancho Regional Chamber of Commerce issued the following announcement on Oct. 22.
Dr. Christian Morris has been named Medical Director of ClearSky Rehabilitation Hospital of Rio Rancho. The new inpatient rehabilitation hospital will provide rehabilitative services to patients living with disabling injuries or illnesses such as strokes, brain injuries, hip fractures, spinal injuries, Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis, and other debilitating events.
Morris is a member of the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. He earned a bachelor’s degree in health promotion and education from the University of Utah in Salt Lake City, and a doctor of medicine and master of public health degrees from the University of Miami School of Medicine in Miami.
Morris completed an internship in general medicine at Mount Sinai-Elmhurst Hospital in New York City. He completed a residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation at Washington University in St. Louis, where he served as chief resident of the wellness curriculum. Morris also completed a MICEFA internship in pediatric intensive care in Paris, France.
Proficient in English, French, and Spanish, Morris has served as a medical interpreter for French-speaking refugees in Salt Lake City hospitals.
Morris will lead the hospital’s interdisciplinary team, which will provide services including physical, occupational, and speech therapy; rehabilitative nursing; case management; respiratory therapy; dietary services; and other specialized care. Following discharge, patients will continue to receive further resources as needed, such as follow-up physician appointments, outpatient therapy, or home health.
The hospital is expected to open late fall at 2401 Westside Boulevard SE in Rio Rancho. It will feature 25 private patient rooms.
