City of Rio Rancho issued the following announcement on Aug. 20. 

The next City of Rio Rancho Governing Body meeting is Thursday, August 27, 2020. Due to increased public health safety measures and social distancing practices, while this meeting is open to the public pursuant to State law, the City highly encourages citizens to watch the meeting live on the City’s website www.rrnm.gov or on Sparklight cable channel 56 instead of coming to City Hall. Those wishing to provide public comment can do so by submitting their comments in writing to the City Clerk’s office at clerk@rrnm.gov by 4:30 p.m. on August 27. 

Those wishing to participate on public hearing agenda items, but not physically attend the meeting at City Hall, can do so by:

The current and amended public health orders (stay-at-home orders) issued by Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham and New Mexico Department of Health Cabinet Secretary Kathyleen Kunkel limits private and public mass gatherings to no more than five individuals in a single room or connected space where individuals are within six feet of each other; however, government officials and employees in the course of their employment are unaffected by these orders and teleworking is encouraged. As such, and pursuant to the State laws regarding open meetings, City of Rio Rancho Governing Body and Planning and Zoning Board meetings will continue to take place, though the public is discouraged from attending in-person, no more than five people (non-government affiliated) will be allowed in the Governing Body Chambers at one time, the ability to view meetings online is available, public comments can be submitted through different platforms, the presence of City staff will be limited, and some officials will be participating in the meeting remotely.
