City of Rio Rancho issued the following announcement on Apr. 16.

Rio Rancho Mayor Gregg Hull is creating a Rio Rancho Business Community and Economic Recovery Task Force to study and make recommendations to the Governing Body on actions and plans for the near- and long-term health and recovery of the Rio Rancho Economy.

“As we navigate our current reality due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it is paramount that we look ahead to the re-opening and then the recovery of our local Rio Rancho economy,” said Mayor Hull. “As such, I am calling for the creation of a Rio Rancho Business Community and Economic Recovery Task Force to help us build a more diverse and resilient local economy for a post COVID-19 future and beyond.”

The task force will consist of up to nine members with one seat per City Council district, two at-large seats, and the Mayor serving as chair. Business owners, business leaders, entrepreneurs, and community-minded Rio Rancho residents are encouraged to apply to serve on the task force. Those interested in serving as a volunteer for up to a one-year term can apply at www.rrnm.gov/taskforce by 5:00 p.m. on April 28, 2020.

Non-residents and subject-matter experts will be invited to attend and participate in meetings based on the published agenda for the meetings. All meetings will be open to the public, notified, follow open meeting protocols and conduct business pursuant to the State of New Mexico’s Open Meetings Act provision. The creation of the task force is enabled by Rio Rancho Municipal Code.
