City of Rio Rancho issued the following announcement on Apr. 20.
The next City of Rio Rancho Governing Body meeting is Wednesday, April 22, 2020. Due to increased public health safety measures and social distancing practices, while this meeting is open to the public pursuant to State law, the City highly encourages citizens to watch the meeting live by clicking here or on Sparklight cable channel 56 instead of coming to City Hall. Those wishing to provide public comment can do so by submitting their comments in writing to the City Clerk’s office at clerk@rrnm.gov by 4:30 p.m. on April 22.
Those wishing to attend the meeting at City Hall will need to enter the Governing Body Chambers via the south entrance to City Hall. Social distancing measures will be put into place in the Governing Body Chambers via blocked off seating. Additional seating, via social distancing measures, will be available in the City Hall Overflow Room, which is adjacent to the Governing Body Chambers.
Those wishing to participate on public hearing agenda items, but not physically attend the meeting at City Hall, can do so by calling (571) 317-3122 and entering Access Code 401-140-949.
The April 11, 2020 amended public health order (stay-at-home order) issued by Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham and New Mexico Department of Health Cabinet Secretary Kathyleen Kunkel limits private and public mass gatherings to no more than five individuals in a single room or connected space where individuals are within six feet of each other; however, government services, including public officials and public employees in the course of their employment, where unaffected by this order and teleworking is encouraged. As such, and pursuant to the State laws regarding open meetings, City of Rio Rancho Governing Body meetings will continue to take place, though the public is discouraged from attending in-person, the presence of City staff will be limited, and some elected officials will be participating in the meeting remotely.
