TOWN OF JEMEZ SPRINGS: From Village Mayor Roger Sweet

Announcement2

Town of Jemez Springs issued the following announcement on Mar. 26.

The Village of Jemez Springs has long been known as a place to unplug and reconnect with friends and family. Many of our visitors come to escape to the beautiful environment that is Jemez Springs, especially in stressful times like these. But we want to be sure that our residents, especially our elderly population, remain safe and our visitors return once this passes. As unprecedented as this situation has become, it’s even more difficult for us, as a Village who thrives on tourism and loves our visitors, to ask you to please postpone - but don’t cancel - your visit to Jemez Springs. We ask you to follow the guidelines of the CDC and Governor regarding COVID-19, that you not gather in groups of more than five to respect “social distancing,” even outdoors. Per the directive on March 23, all non-essential businesses have been closed throughout the state. State Forestry has closed all of their developed recreation sites which means bathrooms are locked and there will be no trash pick up. Please do not park along NM-4 and avoid the primitive hot springs where the tendency is for larger groups to gather. Businesses in Jemez Springs have a long road ahead of them but there are ways that you can help now:

-Purchase gift cards for future use where available

-Plan your future visit to Jemez Springs

-Photos of your favorite moments in Jemez Springs

-Share this hashtag with your friends #PostponeDontCancel

And keep checking back here for updates! We'll see you soon - stay safe, stay healthy!
