State Senator Jay Block, a Republican representing New Mexico’s 12th Senate district since 2025, posted several messages on his social media account on September 13, 2025. The posts addressed issues ranging from the fentanyl epidemic to personal appeals for support.
In a post made at 02:11 UTC, Block wrote, “Well said. Truth.” Later that day, at 12:48 UTC, he shared another message: “Pray for this beautiful girl, please.”
At 16:30 UTC on the same day, Block commented on the ongoing drug crisis in New Mexico. He stated, “We MUST combat the Fentanyl Epidemic in New Mexico. Austin was taken from us too soon, and his story is unfortunately all too common.
The actions we have to take for change includes: Awareness, organizing, and new legislation.
United Against Fentanyl’s National Walk for Lives”
Block succeeded Jerry Ortiz y Pino as state senator after being elected in 2025. As a member of the Republican Party and representative of New Mexico’s 12th Senate district, he has focused part of his legislative attention on public health crises such as the fentanyl epidemic.
