The Sandoval County Commission highlighted Brain Injury Awareness Month and honored a local resident during its meeting, according to an April 3 announcement.

Vice Chair Jon Herr, representing District 2, sponsored a proclamation in recognition of Brain Injury Awareness Month. This initiative aims to bring attention to the impact of brain injuries and the importance of awareness in the community.

During the same meeting, Commissioner Joshua A. Jones from District 5 recognized Dion Espinoza, son of Sandoval County Community Services Director Jayme Catanach, for joining the United States Air Force. “It’s no small task for someone to want to sign up and fight for their country,” said Jones. Espinoza received a Letter of Recognition signed by the Sandoval County Commission.

The event included several members of the commission: Michael Meek (District 3), Vice Chair Herr, and Commissioner Jones were present alongside Catanach, Espinoza, and his family.

These recognitions reflect ongoing efforts by county officials to acknowledge both public health issues and individual contributions within Sandoval County.
