The City of Rio Rancho announced on May 13 that it is accepting applications from residents interested in serving on several boards, committees, and commissions due to current or upcoming vacancies.

These opportunities are available for a range of groups including the Arts Commission, Capital Improvements Plan Citizen’s Advisory Committee, Investment Advisory Board, Keep Rio Rancho Beautiful Committee, Lodger’s Tax Advisory Board, Parks and Recreation Commission, Planning and Zoning Board, Public Infrastructure Advisory Board, and Senior Services Advisory Board. Interested residents can apply online at rrnm.gov/applicationform or submit their résumé and application in person to the Office of the City Clerk at Rio Rancho City Hall (3200 Civic Center Circle). Applications will be accepted until positions are filled.

Each board or committee has specific requirements. For example, the Arts Commission seeks individuals with experience in art-related disciplines; CIPCAC looks for those with backgrounds in real estate or development; while other boards seek expertise ranging from public finance to tourism services. Residents interested in community beautification or senior services management are also encouraged to apply.

Appointments to these positions are made by the Mayor of Rio Rancho and require confirmation by the Governing Body consisting of the Mayor and City Council. The city emphasizes community engagement through such commissions as well as events and transparency initiatives like publishing agendas and minutes on its official website.

The city provides municipal services including utilities management—covering water supply operations—as well as public safety programs, parks maintenance, recreation activities, library resources, and additional community programs according to the official website. The main city hall is located at 3200 Civic Center Circle NE in Rio Rancho according to the official website.
