The Rio Rancho Police Department, in partnership with the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA), will host a prescription drug take-back event on Saturday, October 25. The event is scheduled to take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the police headquarters located at 500 Quantum Road NE.

According to organizers, the initiative offers community members a way to safely dispose of expired, unused, or unwanted prescription medications. “This program is anonymous, and all efforts will be made to protect the anonymity of individuals disposing of medications. No questions or requests for identification will be made,” according to a statement from the department.

Participants are asked not to bring prescription bottles but instead place unwanted medication in a Ziploc bag before dropping them off.

For additional details about the event or general information on safe medication disposal, residents can contact the Rio Rancho Police Department at 505-891-5908 or visit https://www.dea.gov/takebackday.
