State Senator Jay Block, a Republican representing New Mexico’s 12th Senate district since 2025, has used his social media platform to discuss recent legislative efforts and share opinions on current issues.
On September 23, 2025, Block highlighted his work on tort reform in medical malpractice by sharing an op-ed he co-authored with fellow senators. He wrote: “I have worked hard for tort reform regarding medical malpractice. Below is the OpEd jointly written with some of my fellow senators. Too many docs are leaving, and the risk to New Mexicans is significant.

The following day, Block promoted an upcoming radio appearance with another public official. On September 24, he posted: “Tune in to @KKOBradio at 0900. @ThorntonforNM and I will be on to discuss several issues including the upcoming special session.” (September 24, 2025).
Later that same day, Block made a statement about political opponents and law enforcement. He stated: “The left supports violence. They hate our beautiful law enforcement.” (September 24, 2025).
Block was elected in 2025 to represent the state’s 12th Senate district after succeeding Jerry Ortiz y Pino.
