State Senator Jay Block, a Republican elected in 2025 to represent New Mexico’s 12th Senate district, has recently posted several statements on his official Twitter account addressing both political and local economic issues.

On September 7, 2025, Block wrote: “Because they are crazy. Easy decision. They defend violent crime rates and refuse help, think men should compete with girls in sports and share showers/locker rooms, they want open borders, they hate the first amendment, they use lawfare against their political opponents, they”.

Later that same day, he followed up with another post stating: “Your crazy lying party should resign. Your ridiculous stances are why millions are fleeing your nutty party. Keep it up.”

On September 8, 2025, Block shifted focus to local matters by expressing gratitude to San Juan College for hosting a legislative interim committee meeting. He acknowledged local leaders’ concerns about job losses due to the closure of a power plant: “I’d like to thank San Juan College for hosting our interim committee. Huge thanks to the elected leaders in San Juan County who discussed the significant negative impacts of shutting down 1500 great paying jobs at the San Juan Generating Station. It was one of the cleanest”.

Block succeeded Jerry Ortiz y Pino as state senator for New Mexico’s 12th district after being elected in 2025.
