State Senator Jay Block, a Republican elected in 2025 to represent New Mexico’s 12th Senate district, posted several statements on his social media account on October 4, 2025. The tweets addressed topics including state policy priorities and ongoing political disputes.

In a post from October 4, Block criticized Democratic lawmakers for their legislative focus. He wrote: “Rather than address crime, education, healthcare access or infrastructure, the Democrats focused on killing more babies with your money for New Mexicans and people from out-of-state. The last year (2023) we have data for was a banner year for killing babies in New Mexico, over https://t.co/w8Kfeljs3Y”.

Later that day, Block made another statement without specifying the subject but calling for someone to withdraw from an unspecified race or position: “He must drop out. Now. https://t.co/aQ0W1RqreF” (October 4).

In an additional tweet posted in the evening of October 4, Block commented on a government shutdown dispute: “The Democrats are shutting down the government for this? Lunacy! https://t.co/6PexoRQ3MG”.

Block succeeded Jerry Ortiz y Pino as state senator following his election in 2025.
