State Senator Jay Block, a Republican elected in 2025 to represent New Mexico’s 12th Senate district, recently posted several statements on his social media account addressing public safety and political developments in Santa Fe.

On December 1, 2025, Block shared an optimistic message regarding recovery efforts: “Great news and on the road to a long recovery.”

The following day, December 2, he described a bipartisan meeting with various stakeholders focused on crime prevention. Block wrote: “Yesterday, I was with my senate and house colleagues. We met with public officials from both sides of the aisle, law enforcement experts, small biz owners, victims of crime, and others to discuss crime and solutions. Thank you to all law enforcement, victim advocates, community”.

Later that same day, Block commented on local political changes in Santa Fe by stating: “All it takes is a new mayor and some climate change in Santa Fe to get rid of the soft on crime radicals.”

Block succeeded Jerry Ortiz y Pino as state senator for New Mexico’s 12th district after the 2025 election.
