The City of Rio Rancho announced on May 14 that its three outdoor public pools—Cabezon, Haynes, and Rainbow—will open for the summer season starting Saturday, May 23.
The announcement is important for residents seeking recreational opportunities as temperatures rise. Public pools provide a space for exercise and community gatherings during the warmer months.
According to city officials, Cabezon Pool at 2307 Cabezon Blvd. will be open from May 23 to May 25 and again from May 30 to August 2, operating daily from noon to 6 p.m. Haynes Pool at 2006 Grande Blvd. will follow a similar schedule but will remain open until August 9 with daily hours from noon to 6 p.m., then switch to weekends only (Saturday and Sunday) through September 7. Rainbow Pool at 301 Southern Blvd. will operate from May 23 to August 9 with daily hours of noon to 6 p.m.; lap swimming is available Monday through Friday between the hours of 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.
Admission fees are set at $3 per day for children ages two through twelve and seniors ages fifty-five and above, while those aged thirteen through fifty-four pay $4 per day.
From May 26 through August 2, the Rio Rancho Aquatic Center located at 745 Loma Colorado Blvd. will also have extended daily hours available for residents.
The City of Rio Rancho supports community engagement by providing events, commissions, utilities services such as water operations and billing support, parks maintenance, recreation programs including aquatics facilities like these pools, library resources, public safety services, and transparency initiatives such as posting agendas and minutes according to the official website. The city’s main hall is located at 3200 Civic Center Circle NE in Rio Rancho.
